Joshua, how large of a plot can you cover with a single scan?? Was the analysis shown in this video from a single scan location, or were a number of scans used?
The video shows a point cloud which covers about 1.5 acres of trees captured from a single scan. The data we used here was collected by Dr. Brady Hardiman using the Leica BLK 360. Though I anticipate using point clouds derived from UAV-mounted sensors as this work continues, I’m excited to see great results from terrestrial laser scanned data – this will really expand the potential applications of our segmentation method.
